OUR HISTORY: Bowling Green First Assembly's history was birthed in prayer. It began in 1948 when Maude Morris and her husband moved to Bowling Green, KY. Through prayer Mrs. Morris developed a burden for the city. In the summer of 1949, Mrs. Morris rented a tent and she and the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Hobson began services on Laurel Ave. near 13th Street. In the fall, services were moved to the Hobson's house at 1436 High St. and construction began on a new building. The building was completed in 1950 and the young congregation, First Assembly of God was dedicated to the Lord.

In the summer of 1951 the Rev. Robert Webb accepted the pastorate. A small addition for Sunday School space was added to the building in the latter 1950s. After Rev. Webb the Rev. Lest Young and Rev. James Dishman pastored the church in the 1960's and 70's until the Rev. Rodney Dukes became pastor.

Soon, after Rev. Dukes became pastor, several locations were considered for a new site and 1423 Scottsville Road was chosen. In March of 1975, the congregation moved to the stone house at 1423 Scottsville Road, currently where our youth meet. Construction began on a new auditorium, and although it was not completed, the first service was September 28, 1975. Dedication of the new building was on November 16, 1975 with the Rev. Cyril Homer, President of Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God. Pastor Dukes led the congregation until 1980. Subsequent pastors were: Rev. Joseph Timberlake, Rev. Bob Bohn, Rev. Timothy Schroeder, and Rev. David Sturgeon.

In the fall of 2009, Rev. Thomas and Cindy Schaefer were elected as pastors. Pastor Tom and Cindy came from Evangel World Prayer Center where they served in many positions over 26 years. As children's pastors, Pastor Tom and Cindy grew a ministry that reached 1000 children a week. His last position as the Pastor over Men's Ministry saw hundreds of men being discipled and trained as mighty men of God. Pastor Tom's passion in ministry is prayer, fasting, worship and revival!! Since coming to First, Pastor Tom has mobilized the church to pray and fast to see God come in a glorious and powerful way. In June of this year, God showed up in revival power and lives are being changed and transformed forever! Currently, First is in revival with the ministry of Prophet John Harke and there is no end in sight! A ministry birthed in prayer is still praying and believing that even greater days are ahead for Bowling Green, Kentucky and the World. It's amazing and electrifying!
